The man who was marked for death

Hemingway wrote that every man is broken by something, and that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. We live most of our lives as if time is a warehouse we can withdraw from later. The truth is closer to the opposite: each morning hands us another chance to shift the script.

Being "marked for death" is just another way of saying finite. Everyone carries it. The difference between dread and freedom is whether we read that mark as a sentence or as an invitation.

I have spent years in security work, where the question is always what breaks first? Systems, like people, fail quietly until they don't. The discipline is in noticing the small fractures early, and in choosing, deliberately, what to reinforce.

So this is a note to myself as much as to you: stop treating the clock as an enemy. Be marked for opportunity instead.
